I started running with Resolute Running in 2013 when I was a resident of Birmingham and I was totally uneducated on how to get myself further than a just a couple of miles on my own. Fast forward 10 years later and I cannot believe the amount of knowledge, success, and friendships I have collected over this period of time!
There were about 3 years in the middle of that 10 year span where I paused on running and pursued my other passion of horseback riding. Unfortunately, during that time I sustained several serious injuries which made returning to running a big question mark in my life. Coming back from total ankle reconstruction and a collapsed lung in the summer of 2020 was certainly one of the biggest physical challenges of my life. Undeterred, however, Alex seemed confident it was possible to run again and started me out with a 10 minute walk. This was ever so humbling for my mind and body, but I have faithfully followed every single one of Alex’s instructions for the better part of my adult life at this stage.
The results have been astounding! 12 months after that new beginning I crossed the finish line of my first World Major marathon in Chicago. Two months after that I completed my first 50K ultra-marathon. Most importantly, I accomplished both of these things without further injury!
That would really be enough of a testimonial, but the work – and success – didn’t stop there! One of the best things outside of the coaching at Resolute Running is the community of people and the friendships you cultivate every time you live a shared race trip or experience. I live in Atlanta now, but that didn’t stop another Resolute Runner from pacing me the following Spring to a HUGE half-marathon PR at the Snickers Marathon and Half-Marathon in Albany, GA. I could have never achieved that goal without the support of the Resolute community. The team trips are truly where the magic happens!
A few months after that, I did something even more wild and joined the next team trip to Canada for my first 3 day stage race out on the trails covering more than 60 miles and 13,000 feet of elevation. This is absolutely something I would have never attempted, or accomplished, without expert coaching and an amazing group of people supporting me all the way through. Time and again I continue to surprise myself (and maybe even Alex) when I push myself right out of my comfort zone and succeed at something else.
Speaking of success – I’ve also learned from Resolute Running, that there are lots of ways to define that word. It can be a PR in a race and it can also be just getting out of the bed and staying consistent with your training plan. I never thought that this year I would find myself faced with the death of my mom. This has proven to be the hardest and most frustrating “injury” of my running career to overcome. After so much success, grief has taken its toll on my body and mind over the past few months, but having the support of a coach and a team who care about me more as a person than a performance athlete has meant the world to me. From encouraging messages to gifts and cards to random texts making sure I am doing ok – this team has become more than just a team to me. Resolute Running is my family and I can’t possibly express my gratitude for how much love and support they show me.
There is a saying I love – “By pushing past your comfort zone you did not only climb that mountain, you became the person who could climb that mountain, and that is yours forever.” I know there will undoubtedly be more mountains to climb in life and in sport, but Resolute Running has showed me that I am the person who CAN climb that mountain.

I wholeheartedly recommend Resolute Running and Coach Alex Morrow, as a testament to transformative coaching and genuine camaraderie. Having tried and failed to qualify for Boston through several cycles, I decided to reach out to Resolute. Alex’s personalized training not only equipped me with the necessary tools but also instilled an unwavering belief in my capabilities. Under his guidance, I not only achieved my marathon goal but surpassed it.
But what sets Resolute Running apart is the vibrant team atmosphere, where runners of all levels unite in support. This unique environment goes beyond individual achievements, fostering a sense of community that provides both accountability and joy. Thanks to Resolute Running, I not only found a dedicated coach but also a group of running partners who transformed the pursuit of a Boston Marathon qualification into an uplifting journey filled with encouragement and shared triumphs.

When I came to Resolute Running I had some pretty crazy ideas and lofty goals with absolutely no idea how to make them happen. However, with my coach Alex's help and the confidence I've received from the Resolute Running community, I have not only met my goals but exceeded them in less than 2 years! The individualized programming has led me to a 10-minute marathon PR and 3 top three finishes in my age group. I am so proud of the work we have accomplished and I can't wait to see what gains are yet to come.

Before I joined Resolute Running, I had gone as far as I could go on my own. My 4th failed attempt to break 4 hours in the marathon had me wondering whether I really had it me to accomplish this goal I had been chasing for 9 years. I had trained harder than I ever had, but it just wasn’t enough. Clearly, I didn’t know what I was doing. If I was going to succeed, I needed help.
At our initial meeting, Coach Alex took one look at my training log and said right away, “We can help you reach your goal.” He had confidence in me (and his program) from the start. I liked that but was still skeptical.
Over the next 7 months, I learned more about running than I ever knew before. I learned how to slow down; I learned how to go fast; I learned how to run smart. My running steadily improved. By following the program as closely as I could, I was able to set personal records at every distance: 1 mile, 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, and even the Marathon. Yes, I finally broke the 4 hour barrier in the marathon -- by over 12 minutes! At age 44!
But despite the name of the program, it’s not all about “running.” Fitness classes, a strengthening and flexibility routine, and nutrition advice have me in the best shape of my life. Again -- at age 44!
One of the biggest benefits that I had not anticipated is the camaraderie of being on a running team. We train together. We do speed work together. We run long together. We race together. We support and encourage each other. We have the opportunity to be inspired by and to inspire other runners.

Resolute Running is the best thing that has happened to my running.
1. Expertise: They know how to take a runner from their current abilities to stronger and more consistent levels of performance. They have helped me correct seemingly small details that made a big difference in my running, helped me establish workouts on my non-running days and tailored my training to fit my current abilities and to equip me for achieving new goals.
2. Communication: Expertise is of little value if not communicated clearly, and the RR coaches are outstanding teachers. They explain thoroughly and answer questions I have about specific workouts. My coach is easy to reach and replies promptly. Perhaps most importantly, when I doubt what I can do, my coach knows how to redirect my thinking and focus. They help runners understand running.
3. Results: A year ago I completed my first full marathon. When I crossed the finish line, my first words were, “I know I can do that faster.” Training on my own revealed that I didn’t know what I was doing; I did not make any progress. After just a few months of working with RR I cut nearly 40 minutes off that first marathon finish time!
I am a stronger and faster runner because of Resolute Running.
